Get Your Students Published

A full-day writing incursion.

A real published book.

A teacher equipped to teach writing like a writer.

Students spend a day writing with Bill Bendall: published author and experienced teacher.

By the end of the day, every student has a complete manuscript.

Within four to six weeks, every student holds a printed, professionally edited copy of their work.

But this isn't just a memorable experience for students.

Classroom teachers work alongside Bill all day, watching every technique modelled and scaffolded in real time.

The skills don't leave when Bill does.

This is not your ordinary author visit.

What Happens on the Day

Six highly structured sessions, utilising the Science of Learning to carefully build a full manuscript in distinct, easily workable parts:

  1. Plotting with purpose — students understand the nuance of story structure

  2. Building a character — students create a protagonist who actively drives the plot

  3. Setting a scene — students learn how to write evocative descriptive sentences

  4. Moving forward with action - students continue to write with purpose, prose, and payoff

  5. Writing toward resolution — students bring their story home

  6. Editing for publication - students learn a template approach to rewriting and editing their work

Every session is expertly scaffolded. Every student, including reluctant and disengaged writers, is guaranteed to produce work they are proud of.

What Makes This Different

Most incursions end when the author leaves. This one doesn't.

Your classroom teacher works alongside students all day, watching every technique modelled and scaffolded by a teacher who has used these exact methods across a decade in Victorian primary classrooms.

Bill leaves you with a whole suite of tools you can use to improve literacy outcomes across the rest of the year and beyond.
